Website not showing or certificate pending

In this article
The short answer

First open your website at its BizBaby address, shown under Current website in gear icon → Website Builder → Website connection. If that doesn't show it either, a page isn't published. If only your own domain fails, the problem is the domain's DNS settings at your domain provider. BizBaby sets up the secure (https) certificate for your domain by itself once the domain points to BizBaby, so a certificate problem almost always means the A record is wrong or hasn't reached everyone yet.

Nothing shows, even at your BizBaby address

  • The homepage is a draft. In Your website pages, the Home card must say Live. If it says Draft, click Publish. Without a live homepage, visitors get "page not found".
  • One page shows "page not found". That page is a Draft. Click Publish on its card. If you changed its address in Meta settings, use the new Public URL on its card.
  • A page says "Billing paused". It's offline because a BizBaby bill is unpaid. Click Review billing on the card and pay the bill.
  • The page shows, but without your latest changes. The public website catches up within about an hour. To update it now, click Refresh Website in the editor, or Refresh website on the homepage card.
  • The page isn't on Google. Check that its Google search switch says Included. Google decides when to show new pages.

Your own domain doesn't show your website

Open the Website connection card and read its status and any message under Your own domain.

What you seeWhat to do
Setup neededNo domain is connected yet. Follow Connect your own domain.
A Record is missingAdd an A record for your domain pointing to the IP address BizBaby shows (click the message to see it). Wait, then click Connect domain again.
A Record ConflictsThe domain points somewhere else. Delete the other A records so only BizBaby's remains.
domain does not resolveThe domain can't be found on the internet yet. Check the spelling. A new domain or a new record can take up to 48 hours.
answered by another serverSomething else answers at your domain, often your provider's parking page, an old host or a redirect your provider set up. Remove it so the A record points straight to BizBaby.
nothing is answering, did not respond in timeUsually a DNS change still on its way. Wait an hour or two and click Reconnect.
HTTPS certificate problemThe secure certificate couldn't be set up. See below.
Connected, not reachableThe domain worked but failed BizBaby's daily check, so it's out of service. Usually DNS was changed at the provider. Put the A record back and click Reconnect.

Certificate pending or "not secure"

You don't buy or upload a certificate. BizBaby asks for one when you click Confirm and renews it on its own. It can only be issued when your domain already points to BizBaby, so:

  1. Check the A record at your domain provider points to the IP address in the Confirm Connect window, and that it's the only A record for the domain.
  2. Turn off any forwarding, proxy or "parked page" setting your provider has on the domain.
  3. Wait at least an hour after the change, then click Reconnect. Don't retry many times in a row: certificate requests are limited to a few failures per hour for each domain.
  4. If it still fails, contact BizBaby support with your domain name.
Your BizBaby address always works

While you fix a domain, your website, forms and customer portal keep working at your BizBaby address. Share that with customers in the meantime.
