Troubleshooting
My email went to spam
In this article
First check who your emails come from. Until you set a Business email address, BizBaby sends your quotes, invoices and reminders from a BizBaby no-reply address, which customers don't recognise. Set up a business email, and if it's on your own domain, finish adding its DNS records so the card shows Live. Then ask the customer to mark your email as not spam.
1. Check who your emails come from
- Click the gear icon at the top right, then Business Information.
- Look at the Business email address card.
| The card shows | What it means |
|---|---|
| Setup Business Email | No business email is set. Your emails go out from a BizBaby no-reply address. Click it and create a BizBaby address or connect one on your domain. See Choose who your emails come from. |
| In setup | You started connecting an address on your own domain but didn't finish. Click Continue the setup and go to step 2 below. |
| Live | Your address is set up and emails come from it. It's locked once mail is flowing. To change it, email support@bizbaby.com. |
2. Finish your domain's DNS records
An address on your own domain, such as hello@yourbusiness.com, needs four records at your domain host: one MX and three CNAME. Two of the CNAME records are the signature inbox providers use to check that the email really comes from your domain.
- On the Connect your domain step, copy each value with its copy button into your domain host's DNS settings. Add every record exactly as shown.
- Remove your old MX records for the domain and keep only the new one.
- Click Verify DNS records.
Records are not verified yet means BizBaby can't see the records yet. DNS changes can take a few hours. Check the values and try again later. If someone else manages your domain, use Send these instructions to someone else on the same step.
3. Ask the customer to help their inbox
- Ask them to open their spam or junk folder, find your email and mark it as not spam.
- Ask them to add your business email address to their contacts.
- Check the email address on their customer record. A typo sends the email nowhere.
Check an email yourself
On the Automations page, click ⋯ on an email's row and choose Send test. It sends the saved email to you, so you can see where it lands in your own inbox.
This article covers the emails BizBaby sends for your jobs. If marketing campaign emails land in spam, see Send marketing email from your own domain.
