Troubleshooting

My texts are failing

In this article
The short answer

Most failing texts come down to one of three things: your business number isn't registered for texting yet, a BizBaby bill is unpaid, or the customer's number is wrong. Find what you see below and follow the fix. Registration is the most common cause, and until it's approved BizBaby sends no texts from your number.

Find what you see

What you seeWhy, and what to do
πŸ”’ Off on a text automationYour number isn't registered for texting (A2P 10DLC). Point at the lock and click Register, or see Text messaging registration.
"SMS is unavailable"The full message is "SMS is unavailable until a verified business phone is configured." You have no business number yet, or it isn't registered. Get a number, then register it.
"Texting is paused"The full message is "Outbound texting is paused until the outstanding BizBaby bill is paid." Pay the bill and texting starts again. Customers can still call you. See Usage charges and your monthly bill.
"Check the number""The text could not be sent. Check the number and try again." The number is wrong or can't take texts. Fix it on the customer's record.
Not deliveredThe text left BizBaby but the carriers didn't get it to the phone. See When a text shows Not delivered.
Skipped in HistoryAn automation ran but didn't send. The reason shows under its name, for example "The recipient has no phone number on file." or "The customer turned off this type of text notification." See Why a customer didn't get an email or text.
Delivered, but not seenThe phone received it. Ask the customer to check blocked or filtered messages.

Check your registration

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right, then Business Information.
  2. Look at the Business phone number card. Setup Business Phone Number means you have no number yet, so get one first. Verified means you're registered. Needs verification means carriers block your texts.
  3. Click Needs verification to open Get verified to reach customers. The Text messaging card there shows which step is waiting.

The Text messaging card can say Approved when only your brand is approved. Texts go out once the campaign is approved too, which can take from a couple of days to several weeks. A toll-free number uses toll-free verification instead.

Long texts and pictures

A long text isn't refused. It's split into parts and each part is billed. Pictures must be JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP, up to 5 MB. For the exact limits, see Length, pictures and cost.
